ABSTRACT:

This paper endeavors to indicate the current state of the argument concerning global labor standards, identify the two international bodies under whose auspices the issue is most likely to reside, and to review the ways in which multinational businesses have been forced to operate in the resulting regulatory vacuum.

This paper was presented at the 12th International Conference of the International Trade and Finance Association in Bangkok, Thailand, May 2002.
