Editorial

ROMS continues to grow both in terms of user base and interest form potential authors. As you can see form the current issue we not only attract topical papers that are at the cutting edge of research in marketing but research that is sophisticated and could be influential in the development of new ideas and methodologies in Marketing. As you will see, the research reported in this issue uses different methodologies, addresses important issues in e-commerce and there is something of interest to academics as well as practitioners.

THERE IS YET ANOTHER NEW DEVELOPMENT that should excite ROMS users. I am delighted to announce that ROMS has entered into an agreement with The Berkeley Electronic Press (bepress) making ROMS a part of the many offerings of bepress. This means that ROMS will soon be available on bepress site (http://www.bepress.com/roms) and have a wider dissemination through the large subscriber base serviced by bepress. Once the ROMS is available on the bepress site, users will receive notification of the change. Visitors to the current ROMS site will be directed to the new site.

FULL-LENGTH ARTICLES will be a major focus of ROMS as it enters its new phase. I know that many among our potential authors are keen to publish their work in the most "prestigious" print journals. To them, I would like to give the assurance that publications in ROMS will meet the high standards that they desire. But also, publishing in ROMS will mean access to a large audience to whom the journal is delivered in a most convenient way. Finally, the review process in ROMS, by virtue of the technology available at bepress and my own commitment to speedy and productive refereeing, will prove to be easy to deal with. And so, let me encourage all of you to get out your papers to ROMS. ROMS publications will be different in some ways. They will be topical, and the need for timely dissemination will be the key criterion for such papers. Authors are encouraged to submit papers of broad interest to academia and practitioners. The papers might do one of several things: report original research, summarize the current state-of-the art in a topic area or raise research issues in need of greater attention by the community. Finally, ROMS will treat the boundaries between Marketing and related disciplines such as Economics, Management Science and Behavioral Science as quite porous. The common theme that ROMS emphasizes is the relationship to marketing management issues. We expect that full-length papers would appear starting in the second volume, after Fall 2002. While opening this new offering, ROMS will continue to facilitate quick dissemination of the latest research by publishing long abstracts of papers that will be housed as part of the Working Paper Series.

THE USER BASE continues to show impressive growth. We now have 1700 users representing 75 countries. The manuscripts we have published to date should give potential authors a better idea of the kind of manuscripts we seek. I extend to all an invitation to submit your latest work to ROMS.
